Scholarships

PAEF Scholarship Policy
Section1: Scholarship Committee – All scholarships awarded or processed by PAEF shall be handled by a Scholarship Committee appointed by the President and approved by the Board of Directors. The Scholarship Committee shall be composed of at least five (5) members. At least two (2) of the members shall be Granite County teachers. A PAEF representative will serve as chairman. Other members may come from the Board of Directors or citizens of Granite County at large.

Section 2: Application Procedure: In the month of February, the Board of Directors shall prepare a news release summarizing the scholarships which will be available for the following academic year. At the same time, information and application forms for the various scholarships will be made available on the Foundation’s website at paefmt.com.
The completed applications must be returned to the PAEF Treasurer by the deadline specified in the public announcement. Any additional information required by the scholarship committee will be gathered by a procedure established by the committee.

Section 3: Evaluation Procedure: Applications shall be evaluated according to a procedure established by the Scholarship Committee, which takes into account character, growth potential, quality of school activities, quality of community activities, financial need or any other special criteria required by the scholarship donor or Board of Directors.
If there are no specific criteria established for a specific scholarship by its donor, the following criteria shall be used in the order they are listed: 1. Character; 2. Growth Potential; 3. Quality of School Activities; 4. Quality of Community Activities; and 5. Financial Need.

Section 4: Award Procedure: The public announcement of scholarships awarded shall take place at a special reception prior to the commencement exercises of the current years graduating classes. Each recipient will be notified immediately by letter after the scholarship committee has completed its deliberations and invited to the special reception held to honor them and their families. Before an award is sent to the college of the students choice, a “Memorandum of Understanding” must be signed by the student which enumerates the terms and conditions of the award.
